Of course....at this point in our lives, there are many stories to report! I am looking for a partner, and it could be a close friend. Someone who will want to share what is most important to each other, in frequent touch, if not living together. I am a geriatric psychiatrist who is passionate about helping others, and of course I get as much out of it as they do, I am sure. (That is true of many of us docs!) I retired from my practice in Mill Valley, California, in 2020 to work in Nepal developing geriatrics services. I have worked in Kenya, Haiti, India, and Ecuador. At present I'm working with WHO-Nepal to set up a geriatrics curriculum for nurses at Kathmandu University, and I am helping to design a dementia program for Nepal. This is beyond gratifying. I go to Nepal about 3x a year for 2-3 weeks, and otherwise we do much on Zoom.

What of my personal relationships? I divorced my husband (we had been together for 33 years) in 2008, as my work situation in Ann Arbor was untenable, and he was unwilling to move elsewhere. We have 2 wonderful kids together and actually our relationship is much easier and more gratifying now than it had been for years; he remarried very happily. I moved to Durham in 2008 and met a close male friend (though not more). In 2012 I moved to Mill Valley, California, for a new position. My friend and I visited frequently and spoke daily. We were closely supportive, and visited back and forth. I loved California...my son lived nearby, the hiking was fantastic, and the natural beauty is breathtaking. However, once the fires started, I became very uneasy and left California in the spring of 2021.

My friend had grown up in Vermont, and I in upstate NY. We decided to pool our resources to settle in Vermont, on a small farm with horses. Unfortunately, my friend, having Asperger's, found it far more difficult to make this change than I did, and we broke off our relationship in early 2022. I was able to sell the farm to a new friend, and I moved back to Durham in 11/22. I had set up an orchestra in the medical center at Duke in 2010 (I played the violin for many years), and I was happy to return to the warmth of my orchestra friends.

So, there is much in my life of interest, and I hope to find someone who has much to share as well. I will be frank; I am hoping to meet someone who is a professional, who has many interests, and who is pretty smart. Sounds curt, but it's true. However, I actually have a great sense of humor, which makes my sincerity and "vision" a lot easier to take )) If not now, when? Though I just turned 74, I am reasonably fit and would love to find someone equally so. In many ways this seems like the best part of my life, beyond kids; I have little to hide and nothing to prove.

You can see from these awful photos that I don't take myself too seriously. Actually, I have a great sense of humor, which helps mitigate my intense interests and passions!

Photos: I'm on the right in the one with 2 people; about 4 years ago. The others are me with my horse Sam within the last year, and me working in Nepal within the last year.
